A Gift for a New Chapter: Karmbox Mail Club

Sometimes the gift you want to give someone is a little space for herself.

Space to think about what she wants. To rediscover something she enjoys. To imagine a future that feels different from the one she expected.

That’s the feeling behind Karmbox Mail Club: a monthly envelope of personal words, practical reflection and beautiful stationery surprises. Something to look forward to opening, with ideas to return to long afterwards.

It’s also something I’m growing through myself.

The personal story behind the Mail Club

I found out I was pregnant a week into the first Covid lockdown. In such challenging uncertain times, I was scared. Now, with Bibi’s sixth birthday approaching, I’ve been reflecting on the mum I’ve become and everything that has changed along the way.

Finding myself again through divorce has meant asking questions I hadn’t given much space to for a long time.

What do I actually enjoy? What do I want my days to feel like? What would I choose if I wasn’t so worried about keeping someone else happy?

I’d spent so much energy trying to do that, often at my own expense, that my own answers had become harder to hear.

Creating the Mail Club gives me somewhere to explore those questions and share what I’m learning. Every chapter begins with something meaningful, then offers ways for you to explore it in your own life.

November’s chapter: Rewrite the Story

November is about questioning the thoughts we’ve come to accept as facts about ourselves.

“I could never.”

“I’m just not that kind of person.”

“It’s too late for me.”

One that has come up for me is: “I should have chosen myself sooner.”

A thought I’m practising now is:

“I wish I had.
I can take what I’ve learnt
into the choices I make now.”

Both can be true.

Rewrite the Story offers space to notice those familiar beliefs, consider a fairer perspective and try a small action that supports it.

Three books that helped shape this chapter

These recommendations come from my own bookshelf and different moments in my life.

Untamed by Glennon Doyle: my happiness mattered too

Untamed helped me question the guilt I felt around separating from my husband and changing our daughter’s family life.

Sharing time with her. Changing her routine. Knowing she would have two households instead of the life I’d imagined.

Through its exploration of motherhood, relationships and expectations, the book helped me make room for the idea that my happiness mattered too, alongside hers.

Mind Over Mood: finding perspective through fear

I worked through Mind Over Mood by Dennis Greenberger and Christine A. Padesky after discovering I was pregnant during the first week of Covid lockdown.

Its practical exercises offered a way to explore thoughts and feelings on paper during an uncertain time. The book introduces cognitive behavioural therapy techniques for examining assumptions and developing more balanced perspectives.

My copy is still beside me today.

The Life Impossible by Matt Haig: it’s never too late

I know it’s fiction, but what stayed with me was the possibility of exploring life again, even when guilt and fear have made your world feel smaller.

This novel follows a retired maths teacher into an unexpected adventure in Ibiza. For me, its message was hopeful: there’s no age limit on curiosity, discovery or changing direction.

What’s inside November’s Mail Club?

Your envelope includes:

  • A personal founder letter: my experiences and reflections on the chapter.

  • A practical guide: ideas and exercises to explore in your own time.

  • A bookmark: for whichever of my book recommendations you dive into next.

  • A guided reframing ritual: a quiet moment to question a familiar thought.

  • A meditation QR card: access to my Leaves on a Stream guided meditation.

  • Some really special stickers: little details to enjoy in your journal or keep nearby.

The book recommendations are there for further reading; the books themselves aren’t included. And the designs stay a surprise until your envelope arrives.

A little gift to yourself

You can love looking after other people and still want something that belongs to you.

A letter arriving with your name on it. A reason to put the kettle on. A prompt that helps you begin writing when you haven’t quite known where to start.

That’s the experience I’m creating with the Mail Club. Each month brings a new theme and something tangible to spend time with, at your own pace.

You don’t need to be an experienced journal keeper or have a particular goal. Curiosity is enough to begin.

Thoughtful gifts for someone finding her way

Karmbox also offers gifts for the people you’d like to make a little time for themselves.

For a friend who loves writing, our journals have a special gift-wrap option. I tuck in a pen, sticky notes, stickers, herbal tea and selected pieces from the Mail Club archives for inspiration.

It’s a little experience to unwrap: make a cup of tea, find a comfortable spot and see what comes onto the page.

If you’d rather let someone choose, Karmbox digital gift vouchers can be used to explore our collection of journals, ritual boxes, crystals and little pleasures. They’re delivered by email and valid for 12 months.

A thoughtful gift doesn’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes it simply offers a moment to pause and a reminder that someone has been thinking of you.

Your story is still unfolding

Working on this chapter has made me reflect on parts of my past that aren’t always comfortable to revisit. It has also reminded me that I’m still learning, still making choices and still discovering what matters to me.

I’m sharing that journey through Karmbox Mail Club.

If you’re finding your way back to yourself too, I’d love you to join me.

Explore Karmbox Mail Club and join November’s chapter by 28 October.

With love,
